Question 4: Friendly to trees

Which of the following is the least helpful to trees? Why/Why not?

(A). a shovel

(B). the sun

(C). branch trimmers

(D). water

Scroll down for the answer

The answer:

The sun is necessary for photosynthesis. This is how the tree gets its energy. Branch trimmers are helpful when a tree has cancer (dying) or if the tree is growing in a harmful way to itself. Water is necessary for the nutrients in the ground to work its way through the roots of the tree. Think of it as the tree drinking water. It needs water to survive. While somewhat useful, the shovel isn't necessary. Two ways the shovel could be used is by moving mulch around the tree. The other use is when you want to transfer the tree.
